Rowdy Energy Sour Green Apple

Appearance

Another clean design from Rowdy. I like the two different shades of green that the chose for the logo. Aside from that it’s just another copy/paste design.

Taste

The sour apple flavored energy drinks I’ve tried thus far have been extremely sweet, like a Jolly Rancher on steroids. I was surprised to find Rowdy’s product to be more muted. The other drinks are excessively sweet, and Rowdy’s is slightly too muted. If you prefer the sour aspect over everything, then I’d recommend Rowdy’s Sour Green Apple for you.

Kick

Rowdy Sour Green Apple has 160mg of caffeine. This is roughly equivalent to two cups of coffee.

Overall

Rowdy’s Sour Green Apple is a slightly different take on a sour apple flavor. The extreme sweetness found in other products is replaced by a more subtle sour taste. It’s refreshing that a drink company isn’t trying to force good taste by maximizing sweetness. On the other hand, I still feel that Rowdy came up a bit short with this drink. The taste will appeal to those who really enjoy sour candies, but the drink is missing something. It’s more complicated than a lack of sweetness, the product feels too artificial in an unsettling way.
