Red Bull Winter Edition Fig Apple

Introduction

Been putting this one off since I haven’t seen them around DC, but it caught my eye from across the grocery store so I had to pick it up. Red Bull Winter Edition Arctic Berry is one of my all time favorites - still salty they discontinued it - so I’m ready to be impressed by another winter edition. Let’s go.

Appearance

Can is standard Red Bull fare.

Taste

Dammit Red Bull you did it again. Another banger.

I really wanted to hate this before I even got into it because of the weird flavor combination, but it really plays. The fig taste isn’t strong, but it almost mellows out the apple flavor. It’s not a green apple flavor by any means. More of a Fuji apple flavor in my mind.

Not too sweet, which I like, and the carbonation is just right.

Kick

I’m drinking the 8oz can which has 80mg of caffeine. It also has 27g of sugar.

Energy blend also has niacin and vitamin B6/12.

Conclusion

Love this drink, but I’m going to try and not get too attached to it because I’m sure Red Bull won’t carry it over and make it a permanent drink.

If you like Red Bull, and/or like their seasonal flavors, you should definitely go pick one up right now.

Appearance

The standard Red Bull branding applies here, with an awesome dark green background that is theme appropriate.

Taste

Fig Apple doesn't have the normal jet fuel taste of Red Bull, (and I say that lovingly.) The tart and apple flavors stand out, in addition to the sweetness. I found the sweetness to be a tad distracting. The drink was moderately enjoyable for me, though I imagine someone really interested in a fig and apple combination would enjoy it more.

Kick

Red Bull Winter Edition Fig Apple has 112mg of caffeine in its 12oz can, which is a bit more than a standard cup of coffee.

Overall

Red Bull continues to entertain with their winter and summer edition drinks. Fig Apple was not the most delicious drink I've had, though it earns some points for creativity and bold flavoring. Sipping on this drink reminded me of a joke on 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' about "fruit-forward Rieslings." I know nothing about wine, but the fact that it reminded me of the joke should clue you in on the prominent fruit flavors in this Red Bull.
