Cocaine Energy Drink Spicy

Introduction

I am the last of my colleagues to review this drink, and the results so far are not flattering. Matt rated it a 2.8/10, and Cameron rated it a 4.3/10. Knowing these scores, I literally left it in the back of my fridge for 2 years until Matt finally pressured me into drinking it today.

I am honest-to-god frightened of the pepper on the can. Although I'm really hoping that some of the fruit flavor featured in the Mixed Berry Cocaine variant is present here. Let's find out.

Appearance

Stupid can. But maybe it's so stupid it's good. I don't know any more.

Taste

My fellow Sharks are on point, but also wrong at the same time here. Yes, the first sip is "gnarly". Yes, the drink burns the back of your throat and nose. Yes, it's off-putting to have a drink be spicy.

But what I didn't realize after reading my friends' reviews was that there's a nice fruit punch flavor hiding beneath the surface! I do wish the spiciness was turned down a bit, but all in all this is a 5.0/10 drink.

No, I wouldn't seek it out again. But I'm enjoying the experience. Also it literally has chili pepper extract....

Kick

Mouth feel? Nah, nose and throat feel. 280mg of caffeine in a 12oz can. 23g of sugar.

Conclusion

For being such an aggressive drink, it feels anti-climactic to give it the ol' 5.0/10. It's truly not that bad though. Don't listen to my friends and give it a try, you might just enjoy it.

Introduction

Cocaine Spicy is one of the strangest energy drinks I have ever reviewed. Its cinnamon taste is not pleasant, but quite unique. I honestly did not even realize that it was cinnamon initially because I was more focused on the fact that I was drinking a mildly spicy beverage that I felt in my nose. I have never done the substance cocaine, but after feeling this beverage in my nose, I feel that it is aptly named.

Upside

There are two obvious upsides. First, the name is literally Cocaine. I do not condone the use of illegal substances, but the name is awesome. Second, the kick is incredible. This beverage has 280mg of caffeine per 12oz can (23.33mg/floz), and the initial sip is gnarly. I think that this is a great “try it once and be done with it” drink. If you want an actual good cocaine energy drink, try their mixed berry edition.

Downside

This was not chuggable because I felt every sip in my nose. Granted it was probably exacerbated by a sinus infection at the time, but it felt very unusual regardless. The taste was also not pleasant. There is nothing redeeming about drinking cinnamon. If the taste were even half-decent, Bang would have already released it.

Upshot

Cinnamon Cocaine is an energy drink that I do not regret trying, but will never have again. I gave it a 4.3 because it is a novelty beverage, but the poor taste gives it a lower overall ranking. If you want a decent tasting cocaine energy drink, try their mixed berry. It is not elite, but it is still far superior to their cinnamon edition.

Appearance

The bold red background looks sharp. I enjoy how the text on the label stands out from the background that covers the entirety of the can's vertical surface. The two pictures of peppers on the side are a warning of what is to come. Unfortunately I found that the fringes of the can's label suffer from similar degrading as I observed on the Mixed Berry can.

Taste

Whatever sweet flavor that first presents itself is quickly consumed by a burning sensation. The drink is less "spicy" than it is offensive to the human body. A quick look at the ingredients list reveals chili pepper extract to be the likely culprit. It really does feel like a sweet, red Kool-Aid flavor that has been laced with several shakes of a pepper shaker.

Kick

Cocaine Spicy has 280mg of caffeine in only 12 fl. oz. of drink. That is approximately equivalent to three cups of coffee in drink the size of a Starbucks "Tall."

Overall

This is an experience, not a drink. I was expecting a heavy cinnamon flavor. Instead, I got red Kool-Aid laced with an amount of pepper that could warrant an assault charge. The sweetness is there for a split second before being overtaken by what I assume is the chili pepper extract. It tickles my throat on the way down, but has the occasional benefit of awakening my sinuses. Cocaine Spicy is a drink that I have experienced, and probably will not attempt to drink again anytime soon.
