Mtn Dew Rise Energy cans

Mtn Dew, owned by PepsiCo, is pushing further into the fast-growing energy drink market with Rise Energy.

With some guy named LeBron James as the face of the line, Mtn Dew dropped six flavors in March at a suggested retail price of $2.59:

  • Berry Blitz
  • Orange Breeze
  • Peach Mango Dawn
  • Pomegranate Blue Burst
  • Strawberry Melon Spark
  • Tropical Sunrise

From PepsiCo’s press release: “MTN DEW RISE ENERGY has approximately 180 mg of caffeine, vitamins A and C, antioxidants, and fruit juice. With Citicoline and caffeine to boost mental clarity and Zinc for immune support, MTN DEW RISE ENERGY is designed to awaken ambition and help people conquer the day.”

“It’s important to me that I believe in the brands and products where I invest my time,” James said. “When I first learned about the message behind the drink – the fact that every day is a chance to rise for all of us – that really resonated with me.”

PepsiCo and Mtn Dew have tried energy drinks before with Kickstart, AMP, and Game Fuel, all with mixed success. If Kickstart is aimed at the lower-caffeine, juice-alternative crowd and Game Fuel at gamers, Rise looks aimed at athletes and mainstream energy drinkers, filling the gap AMP left when it was mostly discontinued in 2018.

My first Rise was Pomegranate Blue Burst. Here’s how the two we’ve reviewed score:
